Use:

RKW ProTec® Contour is especially suitable for shrink labels as well as for lamination and packaging film for vegetables. Practical suitability, efficiency, and environmental advantages complement one another for the film, which is available in a roll width of 1050 mm and a roll length of up to 6000 mm.

Properties:

New properties for new applications were generated using the polystyrene film with a thickness of 25 to 70 µm. Depending on the requirement RKW ProTec® Contour is characterized by the following properties.

RKW ProTec® Contour for shrink films:

  • High degree of rigidness
  • High level of transparency
  • Optimal shrink behavior

RKW ProTec® Contour for fruit and vegetable packaging (as an alternative to cellophane):

  • High degree of gas permeability
  • Can be folded like paper
  • Versatile suitability in everyday use:
    RKW ProTec® Contour is printable in flexographic printing, gravure, and offset printing and is especially gentle on the product due to the low shrink temperatures. The film is highly adaptable and especially kind to the packaging: Low shrink forces ensure that the container is not compressed – even with a flawless seam.
  • High yield:
    In comparison to the PET and PVC film, the 30% lower density of the polystyrene film enables a higher yield.
  • Recycling friendly:
    The lower density enables an optimal separability from PET bottle material in the flotation procedure.
  • Energy efficiency and easy on the environment:
    Because of an energy-efficient production process and a higher yield, the carbon footprint of RKW ProTec® Contour OPS with 116 g CO2/m2 is significantly lower than with OPP and OPET, with 145 or 226 g respectively. The high shrink rate at lower shrink temperatures saves energy during the packaging process.
